Nola loves to enrich others creativity by teaching the practical hand eye skills needed to create images in water colour, pencil crayon, graphite or  mixed media. Nola’s Portraits are in private collections around the world. Animals and their people are the focus. Nola’s portraits are more than mere 3/4 head studies.  Animals and their humans together in competition, in the field or in the ring. Animals and their humans together together in formal or informal domestic settings. Animals and their humans together outdoors, on the dock, in the boat, in the sun or in the shade.

 ABC Muskoka celebrates pictures and words in a single hard cover book for children of all ages. The program includes ABC Bookmaking workshops, an exhibit and tiny handmade art books.

Designed, drawn, printed manufactured in Toronto, ABC Muskoka has gone across the country, around the world, to camp and the cottage.

Just ABC Bookmaking Workshops, spread the word that real books are special and they don’t require batteries. Making  tiny hand-built books introduces the ancient skills of Egyptian Coptic bookmakers to modern booklovers.

The print exhibit provides the full alphabet, 27 framed works, enough to fill many smaller galleries.  Collectors appreciate the opportunity to purchase  a short run original print or handmade keepsake book.

ABC Muskoka hardcover books books, handmade books and original letter image prints are available directly from Merriweather and select retailers around the province. Print editions are limited to just 10 units.

Why?  Life drawing includes all live models. Horses are fascinating challenging live subjects.

You have tried to draw live  horses, but they keep moving!  You are intimidated, frustrated with your results. Just Horses is for beginners who are yearning to express their creative side. It was quite a big project, 1250 original images of Football, Baseball and Hockey for 150 years, from 1868 to 2007.  The male torso images captured the development of  the games through changes in player physique, equipment. They did so with detailed images in classic mediums, transparent watercolour or ink. The 269 ink overhead views of the arenas and stadiums showed how a mere field could morth into the 100,000 seat plus of modern venues. The final products, posters celebrating the heritage of sport, are distributed across North America.  ]]> Cincinatti Reds 2007

Swimming is fun. Boating without motors is better, lessons courtesy of a recalcitrant Dispro, Rowboats Canoes and Kayaks . Reading lets you explore the world when the power is off. Making a picture better than the last one? Well that's the best ever. Armed with her sketch book and a pencil, the rocks, trees, water and animals provided training in gesture study, with subjects that never stopped moving. Later she honed her skill in watercolour in marathon sessions disguised as vacations. Pictures are the original visual communication. Letters are required for words, whether texting, tweeting or even writing a story. Nola loves both. ABC Muskoka combines them as it examines Muskoka through the old fashioned method of hand pulled relief block print images made into a new fashioned electronically produced book.
